If you go down to the Crossroads Festival, be sure to meet
up with these performers. The lineup for the Third
Annual Crossroads Music Festival includes a lot of familiar
names: the Architects, the Malachy Papers, the Roman Numerals,
Pendergast, the Gaslights, Blackpool Lights, Federation of
Horsepower, American Catastrophe and veteran jazz virtuosos
the Scamps. Among the more than 54 acts performing during
the two-day festival are some names that may not be so familiar
to even loyal local music fans. Here are some recommendations:

Crossroads
Music Festival founder Bill Sundahl is faced with an enviable
problem: the growing pains of success - KANSAS CITY STAR,
August 25, 2007
By
TIMOTHY FINN
Local
band It’s Over! joins about 50 other national and local
acts performing over two days at the Crossroads Music Festival
3, starting Sept. 8. If expansion is a symptom of success,
then the Crossroads Music Festival is flourishing like the
district it is named after. For its founder, Bill Sundahl,
owner of Spice of Life Productions, success is a blessing
that comes with many more responsibilities and a few more
concerns. Read

MUSIC
FOR THE AGES. Coming soon
"Last year's inaugural Crossroads Music Festival
taught its founder, Bill Sundahl, at least one hard lesson:
You need more than a little help from your friends. "It
was a huge learning experience," Sundahl said. "Last
year, about three months ahead we said, ‘Hey, let's
put on a festival.' The shows were great, but it wasn't a
financial success." He's prepared this time. For the
second Crossroads festival, Sundahl has lined up more than
a dozen sponsors to help spread out the task of promoting
the festival and defray some of the costs. The mission of
this year's festival, however, is the same: "Put together
a diverse lineup of music that has something for everyone.
It's a festival people can bring their kids to..."
Tim
Finn, The Kansas City Star.

Crossing
Over...
"Family-friendly doesn't have to be synonymous with
lame, and that's why we hope this second year isn't the last
for the Crossroads Music Festival. It's the kind of spice
we need more of in KC."
